Our Specialized Offerings and Procedures
Stainless Steel Braces (Metal):
Stainless steel braces are the most durable, most economical, and the most popular due to the variety of colors that can be changed at each visit. Many patients pick a combination of colors to match the current holiday or maybe a favorite sports team. Patients with stainless steel braces are seen approximately every 5 – 6 weeks. An average case of braces is about 24 – 30 months, but some may be only 12 – 18 months, depending on the patient’s bite and what needs to be done.
Ceramic Braces:
Ceramic is more tooth colored and therefore blends in with the patient’s smile. Patients are also seen every 5 – 6 weeks for routine adjustments until the end of active treatment. As with stainless steel braces, the average treatment time is about 24 – 30 months, depending on the each individual case.
Invisalign:
Dr. Kasparian-Federico is an Elite Invisalign Provider. This treatment uses clear custom-fit trays that are changed every 2 weeks; appointments with Dr. Kasparian-Federico are approximately every 8 weeks. Invisalign is not limited to adult patients; with the number of advances in technology, teenagers can also experience the benefits of having Invisalign. An average length of treatment is usually 18 – 20 months. For more detailed information regarding Invisalign, please see the Invisalign tab on our home page.
Spring Retainers:
Spring retainers are for minor correction. These retainers are made of plastic and wires, but they allow Dr. Kasparian-Federico to make periodic adjustment to move the teeth into proper position. The length of treatment depends on each individual case, but usually is about 6 – 12 months.
Custom Sports Mouth Guards:
These mouth guards are great for football, lacrosse, and hockey! They are custom fit to allow you the ability to speak with some clarity to your teammates, unlike generic mouth guards. If cared for properly, they can last a few years and can even be used after the braces come off!
TMJ/TMD:
Dr. Kasparian-Federico takes a conservative approach to temporal mandibular joint disorder. She will give you suggestions and techniques to manage the pain. She usually provides a custom-fit night guard and monitors the discomfort. If this treatment is more complicated, Dr. Kasparian-Federico will refer to an oral surgeon for a consultation.
Surgical Orthodontics:
In rare cases, some orthodontic treatment involves surgical correction along with orthodontics. Dr. Kasparian-Federico works closely with an oral surgeon throughout the treatment to obtain the best result possible. These cases usually take approximately 2 years or more.
